Boehringer Ingelheim, a global leader in animal health, announced today that Joseph Lyman, DVM, MS, recently joined the leadership team of the U.S. Equine Business as Director, Equine Professional Services Veterinarians. Lyman will lead the equine field veterinary and technical marketing teams. He begins his role at Boehringer following the retirement of John Tuttle, DVM, after more than 25 years in the animal health industry.

“I am excited to lead our extremely talented group of veterinary and technical professionals who work side-by-side with practitioners across the U.S.,” said Lyman. “Their combined expertise helps deliver high levels of care to horses, and at the end of the day that’s what this job is all about. Supporting horse health is my passion, and I am honored to join the industry’s leader in equine health care as we build on Boehringer’s legacy of innovative products, services and industry support.”

Lyman joins the Boehringer team from Neogen Corporation where he most recently served as Director of Professional Services and Product Development, leading a team of professional service and pharmacovigilance veterinarians for all domestic species. Prior to that, he served as a Professional Services Veterinarian specializing in equine for Neogen. Lyman also has experience as an equine practitioner at Lexington Equine Surgery and Sports Medicine in Lexington, Kentucky, a member of academia and as lead on-site veterinarian at a large breeding and training facility. He is a graduate of the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign where he received his BS, MS, and DVM.

“We are absolutely delighted to welcome Dr. Lyman to Boehringer,” expressed Amanda McAvoy, Executive Director of the U.S. Equine Business at Boehringer. “Dr. Lyman brings with him an impressive record of leadership and a wealth of experience in the animal health sector. I have no doubt that under Dr. Lyman’s leadership, our highly skilled veterinary and technical team will continue to help elevate Boehringer’s commitment to equine health.”
