The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has reported a confirmed case of equine strangles in Lapeer County. The 13-year-old Quarter horse mare had onset of clinical sign son June 26 that included fever, lethargy and nasal discharge. The unvaccinated mare is recovering.
There were two other horses on the premises that were exposed. There is not official quarantine.
