The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture reported that a 6-year-old Quarter Horse mare had onset of clinical signs consistent with neurologic herpesvirus on December 31. She was confirmed on January 6. Her clinical signs included ataxia, urine dribbling, no tail tone and becoming non-ambulatory. The mare was euthanized.
Enhanced biosecurity has been implemented at the property that includes twice-daily temperature monitoring of four exposed horses.
