The Ohio Department of Agriculture reported to the Equine Disease Communication Center on May 3 that five horses were confirmed with equine herpesvirus on a property in Crawford County, Ohio. Three of the affected horses are deceased. Thirty horses have been exposed.
All horses that were confirmed showed severe respiratory signs. One additional positive horse showed rear leg weakness and urine dribbling, but it is recovering. No additional horses have become ill in the past three days.
The premise has been under quarantine for the past week, with no movement of horses on or off the property.
