An attending veterinarian has reported that laboratory results confirmed equine influenza in a group of approximately 50 horses in Cochise County, Arizona. Fever, Malaise, inappetence and nasal discharged were first observed on January 1, 2018. Affected barns have been asked to establish a quarantine. The vaccination status of the horses is unknown.

The communication system is designed to seek and report real time information about disease outbreaks similar to how the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) alerts the human population about diseases in people.
