On August 3, the Utah Department of Agriculture and Food received Confirmation of West Nile virus (WNV) in a 2-year-old Quarter Horse mare from Carbon County. On presentation, the horse was ataxic and exhibited hindlimb weakness. As of August 8, the horse had responded to treatment and is expected to recover. This is the first WNV case for Utah in 2017.
