The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection confirmed three cases of equine influenza in the state.

A horse at a barn in Rock County tested positive for equine influenza. Horses from this barn had attended the a horse show in Illinois son April 16-18.

The other two cases were at a farm in Waukesha County. Veterinarians reported some horses from this barn had attended the same horse show in Illinois on April 16-18 as the horse with influenza from Rock County.

Wisconsin does not generally issue a quarantine for influenza cases, but it does recommend a voluntary quarantine. The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection recommended that attending veterinarians work with equine owners and stable owners/managers to implement enhanced biosecurity measures.
