Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine (RUSVM) has appointed Juan Samper, DVM, PhD, to the position of associate dean for clinical affairs. In this role, Samper will have primary responsibility for maintaining RUSVM’s clinical affiliations and overseeing the placement of clinical students.
RUSVM students complete their pre-clinical education on the school’s campus in the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis in the Caribbean. Students then transition to clinical training at one of more than 20 RUSVM-affiliated veterinary medical institutions in the United States, Canada and Australia.
Samper received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from National University in Colombia in 1982 and entered large animal practice. He later earned a Master’s and Doctoral degrees in theriogenology and reproductive physiology at the University of Minnesota. He has served on the faculties of both Ontario Veterinary College and Kansas State University. He is a Diplomate of the American College of Theriogenologists, and he has owned an equine reproduction practice in Vancouver, Canada, for 20 years.
In addition to his administrative duties, Samper will teach theriogenology as an RUSVM clinical professor.
