Seven EIA-Positive Horses Euthanized in Texas

The Texas Animal Health Commission (TAHC) confirmed seven cases of equine infectious anemia (EIA) on a premises in Johnson County. All of the cases were in Quarter Horses, and all of the horses were euthanized.

The premises is quarantined and will be released when all TAHC requirements are met. The TAHC’s staff is working closely with the owners and local veterinarians to monitor potentially exposed horses and implement biosecurity measures.
