Neurologic Equine Herpesvirus in Ohio

The Ohio Department of Agriculture has confirmed a case of neurologic equine herpesvirus (also known as equine herpesvirus myeloencephalopathy or EHM) in Cuyahoga County. The report from the Equine Disease Communication Center (EDCC) noted that 40 horses were exposed at the boarding facility.

The confirmed horse was a 24-year-old Hanoverian gelding used for pleasure riding. His clinical signs included being ataxic and febrile. The gelding is recovering.
