A yearling Standardbred colt has died of Eastern equine encephalitis (EEE) in Michigan. The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development received confirmation of the disease, which marked Michigan's first EEE case for 2017. The colt was from Wexford County. He developed a fever and was unable to rise, then died of the disease.
