The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services confirmed an equine strangles case in Marion County. The private facility is under quarantine.

The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services encouraged owners to isolate any new horse—and especially those from ‘”kill pens” and monitor for clinical signs of disease.

This is the 16th case of strangles for Florida in 2021.
