BEVA Congress Introduces Crèche Facilities

For the first time, BEVA Congress will be providing crèche facilities for working Mums and Dads needing childcare for their children.

For the first time, BEVA Congress will be providing crèche facilities for working Mums and Dads needing childcare for their children. It makes Europe’s biggest equine veterinary conference even more accessible to every horse vet.

The theme at this year’s Congress is helping horse vets celebrate the many benefits and pleasures of their job, and the provision of a crèche is one of the ways organizers hope they will help to keep delegates smiling.

Jon Pycock, President of BEVA, said: “A significant number of BEVA members have young children, and we want to make it as easy as possible for them to enjoy Congress without having to worry about making separate plans for childcare at home. We have already had a great response to the idea, and it’s looking like the crèche is going to be very popular.”

BEVA is already well known for championing the cause of working Mums and Dads with MumsVet, which was launched in 2016 with the aim of providing online support for equine veterinary professionals juggling work and parenthood. This initiative is now a global phenomenon reinforcing the need for work-life balance for all vets. The new crèche facility, which is available for children between 0 and 8 years, is another important string to the bow of parental support provided by BEVA.

BEVA Congress 2018, to be held at the popular ICC in central Birmingham from 12-15 September 2018, promises to be better than ever. It provides three days of highly pertinent and accessible science covering a vast spectrum of topics, together with an irresistible social calendar. As well as an impressive program covering most clinical aspects of veterinary science, there will be special sessions on reproduction, non-clinical aspects of being a vet, succession planning, a moral maze debate on specials manufacturing and role play demonstrations on how to manage difficult situations in practice. Dr. Juan Samper, Associate Dean for students and instruction at the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine, will be giving the plenary lecture on the challenges and opportunities in equine practice. There will also be specific lecture streams for veterinary nurses, equine dental technicians and farriers.
