The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services reported to the Equine Disease Communication Center that a horse was confirmed with Eastern equine encephalitis (EEE) in Polk County on May 6. Onset of clinical signs was April 24.

The 8-year-old Quarter Horse stallion was euthanized due to poor prognosis. He was reported as under-vaccinated.
