Engelbrecht-Bresges to Deliver Keynote Address at 64th Annual Round Table Conference

Featuring a keynote address entitled, “The Journey to World Class Racing and Success via Customer Centricity,” from Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges, the chief executive officer of the Hong Kong Jockey Club, The Jockey Club will hold its 64th annual Round Table Conference on Matters Pertaining to Racing on Sunday, August 14, 2016, at the Gideon Putnam Resort in Saratoga Springs, New York.

The conference begins at 10 a.m. EDT and will be available once again on a live video stream at jockeyclub.com.

The Hong Kong Jockey Club is widely regarded as a world leader in horse racing, sporting and betting entertainment, and Engelbrecht-Bresges will provide insights on the organization’s business model and commitment to integrity and customer satisfaction.

Stuart S. Janney III, the chairman of The Jockey Club, will host the two-hour conference and provide remarks. In alphabetical order, the other invited speakers are:

  • Congressional Reps. Andy Barr (R-KY) and Paul Tonko (D-NY), who will provide the Round Table Conference audience with an update on H.R. 3084, the Thoroughbred Horseracing Integrity Act, which they introduced in July 2015. The bill now has more than 50 co-sponsors, and a Senate version, which will also be addressed at the Round Table Conference, is expected to be introduced soon.
  • Julie Broadway, the new president of the American Horse Council, who will discuss the mission and priorities of the organization.
  • Christopher K. Kay, president and chief executive officer of the New York Racing Association Inc. (NYRA), who will detail NYRA’s recent business successes and new television strategy.
  • Kip Levin, chief executive officer of Betfair US and TVG, who will discuss TVG’s ongoing experience with exchange wagering in the state of New Jersey as well as recent efforts in the scheduling of races and expanding carriage of the network.
  • Jeff Novitzky, who oversaw and investigated some of the highest-profile performance-enhancing drug cases in professional sports while working as an agent for the United States Food and Drug Administration and the Internal Revenue Service. He currently serves as the vice president of athlete health and performance for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and he will share some of his experiences in the anti-doping arena.
  • James L. Gagliano, president and chief operating officer of The Jockey Club, will deliver a report on the activities of The Jockey Club.

In addition to the live video stream, a replay will be available on jockeyclub.com later that afternoon and an official transcript of the proceedings is expected to be available on The Jockey Club website the following day.

The Jockey Club Round Table Conference was first held on July 1, 1953, in The Jockey Club office in New York City. The following year, it was moved to Saratoga Springs, where it has been held every August since.
