Equine Infectious Anemia in Dallas County, Texas

The Texas Animal Health Commission reported a confirmed cast of equine infectious anemia (EIA) in Dallas County, Texas.

Texas Animal Health Commission (TAHC) officials confirmed equine infectious anemia (EIA) in a Quarter Horse on a Dallas County premises on January 26, 2021. This is the first confirmed case of EIA in Texas this year. 

The premises has been quarantined and will not be released until TAHC’s requirements are met. 

TAHC’s staff is working closely with the owner and a local veterinarian to monitor potentially exposed horses and implement biosecurity measures.
