The Oklahoma state veterinarian’s office confirmed a case of equine rabies in McClain County. One horse was confirmed with equine rabies and five horses were exposed on the farm.
The 2-year-old grade ranch horse mare had onset of clinical signs on January 8 that included hind limb ataxia that progressed to lateral recumbency with progression of CNS signs over a four-day period. The unvaccinated mare was euthanized and confirmed with rabies on January 17.
