The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development confirmed a case of equine strangles in Cheboygan County.

The yearling Paint gelding had onset of clinical signs on May 26 that included enlarged lymph nodes and nasal discharge. He was confirmed with equine strangles on June 24. The gelding is recovering and was unvaccinated.
