Equine Strangles in Indian River and Martin Counties, Florida

Confirmed cases of equine strangles with other horses exposed occurred in Indian River and Martin Counties in Florida.

The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services reported two confirmed cases of equine strangles in Indian River County and one confirmed case in Martin County. These marked the eighth and ninth confirmed cases of equine strangles in Florida this year.

In Indian River County, three horses were exposed to the confirmed case.

In Martin County, five horses were exposed to the confirmed case.

Both facilities have official quarantines in place.
