A new series of equine conferences will take place this year from EQU Expo, LLC, organizers for EQUITANA USA events. The programs, which will take place across the country in June and July, will focus on equine health and wellness for horse owners, veterinarians and vet techs/assistants. CE credits are anticipated.
The conference takes an integrated approach to whole-horse health and wellness with a full spectrum of topics including nutrition, feeding, supplements and forage in addition to an in-depth look at effective alternative therapies, hoof care, proper saddle fitting with special segments on small business management tips and breeding guidelines.
The conference will be presented in four cities across the US in June through July of 2017. A full speaker roster featuring some of the greatest minds in equine science has been developed including:
- Nutrition expert Dr. Clair Thunes Ph.D., MS, BSc from UC Davis
- Infectious disease and deworming expert Dr. Ray M. Kaplan, DVM, Ph.D., Dipl. ACVIM, EVPC from the University of Georgia
- Farrier hall of famer Dr. Esco Buff Ph.D., APF, CF

CE Credits For Equine Practitioners And Vet Tech’s Pending
Topics have been developed to appeal to the medical minds of equine practitioners as well as all others with an advanced interest in the health and wellness of horses. CE credits are anticipated.
“Through our research, we uncovered a great deal of confusion in the equine community among professionals and horse owners alike regarding feeding, nutritional needs, supplementing, alternative therapies, hoof care, deworming and other health-related issues. There is a growing trend towards using an integrated whole-horse approach to build optimum health and wellness that is still in its infancy stages”, remarks Robert Keegan, General Manager of EQU Expo. “We had the idea to build an entire conference around educating the equine community on the inter relatedness of individual equine issues”, adds Keegan “so our topics hit on almost every aspect of horse health”.
The primary goal of the conference is to educate horse owners and care providers on the latest developments in disease prevention and optimum wellness in order that they may improve their care of horses.
Because of the summer timing of the programs, the conference is offering a special early bird buy-one, get-one half-off price on tickets to encourage interested parties to bring a friend, co-worker, spouse, son or daughter. “We think early summer is the perfect time to attract those who may otherwise be locked down to a school schedule,” states Joanne Scara, Vice President of Marketing. “It’s a great time to take a breath and look at the big picture as far as improving the quality of life for the people and horses around you.”
The Conference Program has a call for speakers in a few remaining segments. While most speaker slots are filled, speakers may contact joanne@equitanausa.com for topics including chiropractic and acupuncture care and equine holistic care.
