BEVA Congress, to be held at the popular ICC Birmingham, is the ultimate educational, knowledge sharing and networking event for the equine veterinary profession, designed by vets for vets. More than 1,200 equine vets and veterinary nurses, 140+ world renowned specialist speakers and 100+ exhibitors will be getting together from around the globe for more than 90 hours of high-quality CPD lectures, workshops and practicals. Veterinary industry leaders will be showcasing their wares in the vibrant exhibition hall and there will be a veritable smorgasbord of outstanding socials.
The packed 2019 program runs across six separate streams, providing highly engaging and inspiring CPD with sessions to suit equine vets and mixed practitioners at any stage in their career. Vet nurses can also enjoy specific lectures focused on their areas of expertise and a separate extensive clinical research program will examine the latest in equine veterinary science.
A full day of Congress will be devoted to keeping the sports horse on the road. The session will bring together leading vets, farriers and physiotherapists, including Andy Bathe, Sue Dyson, Rachel Murray, Pat Reilly, Haydn Price, Victoria Spalding and Russell Guire, for an holistic look at keeping the sports horse performing optimally.
Dr. Sue Stover, a Distinguished Professor and Director of the JD Wheat Veterinary Orthopedic Research Laboratory at the University of California at Davis, will be giving the plenary lecture.
Some of the biggest names in veterinary medicine, Valeria Busoni, Myra Barrett, Mads Kristoffersen, Martin Waselau and Dean Richardson, will be contributing to a session on advancing diagnostics in stifle lameness. In the laminitis session an equally big name, Andrew van Eps, will be contributing the latest on the management of this prevalent, debilitating disease.
The popular Moral Maze will aim to get to the bottom of the question of whether telemedicine is a friend or foe, while a debate panel will delve further into the trials and tribulations involving Brexit and the wider global profession. Further non-clinical sessions will discuss recruitment and retention of equine vets, HR management, social media and mental health.
Other program highlights include sessions on orthopedic imaging, respiratory disease, imaging of the foot, aspects of reproduction, emergency management, medicine when things go wrong, dentistry, gastroenterology, pressing topics in equine medicine, the head and neck, the neurological horse, foal medicine, developmental orthopedic disease, orthopedic therapeutics and anesthesia and analgesia. BEVA Congress’s renowned workshops this year will comprise panel-led sessions on reproduction, lameness, ophthalmology and medicine.
This year Congress has the added prestige of being selected to host the Federation of European Equine Veterinary Associations (FEEVA) General Assembly. FEEVA is an inter-European organization working on all matters related to horse health and welfare throughout Europe and to discuss matters and threats concerning equine veterinary work globally.
All BEVA Congress delegates receive a general certificate of attendance for collection of continuing education points with each day counting as seven hours. BEVA Congress is also an accredited provider of continuing education points for several international veterinary associations.
