Midwestern University Appoints New CVM Dean

Kathleen H. Goeppinger, PhD, President and Chief Executive Officer, Midwestern University, is pleased to announce the appointment of Thomas K. Graves, DVM, PhD, DACVIM, to Dean of the Midwestern University College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM).

"Midwestern University College of Veterinary Medicine is fortunate to have Dr. Thomas Graves in the position of academic dean. He is a talented teacher, mentor and strong leader in the profession who brings a deep understanding of veterinary medicine and its relationship to human health. Dr. Graves is also a strong proponent of our One Health emphasis, an attribute that will be instrumental in guiding our newest college as he leads his faculty and staff in educating our veterinary students," Dr. Goeppinger said.

Dr. Graves previously served as Associate Dean for Clinical Education at the College. Prior to joining Midwestern University, Dr. Graves was Director of the Chicago Center for Veterinary Medicine and a Professor of Veterinary Internal Medicine for the University of Illinois. He has earned multiple awards as an educator, including the Carl J. Norden-Pfizer Distinguished Teacher Award and the Chicago Veterinary Medical Association Outstanding Teacher Award. He has lectured at universities and conferences throughout North America, South America, Asia, and Europe, and has served on the Scientific Advisory Boards of the Morris Animal Foundation and the Found Animals Foundation. Dr. Graves earned his DVM from Cornell University and his PhD from the University of Rochester, School of Medicine and Dentistry.
