Neurologic Mare Euthanized in Virginia

The Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services reported one confirmed case of neurologic herpesvirus in Fauquier County. The 26-year-old warmblood mare had onset of clinical signs on June 12 of fever, neurological signs and recumbency that resulted in her being euthanized. She was confirmed on June 16. 

Six other horses on the premises were exposed. There is an official quarantine in place.
