New York EEE Case Confirmed

A yearling filly in Oswego County, New York, was euthanized due to Eastern equine encephalitis.

The New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets confirmed on August 15 that a yearling filly in Oswego County was confirmed with Eastern equine encephalitis (EEE). The filly had onset of clinical signs on August 10 of ataxia, blindness and dullness. The vaccinated filly was euthanized.

This was New York’s first case of EEE in 2019.
