Respiratory Equine Herpesvirus in Florida

An attending veterinarian in Pasco County, Florida, reported a confirmed case of respiratory equine herpesvirus. A 2-year-old Arabian gelding at a private facility had clinical signs of mild anorexia, bilateral mucopurulent discharge and fever. He tested positive for EHV-4 with no history of recent travel. 

The gelding is recovering, and no other horses on the property are showing any clinical signs of disease.
