Seventh EEE Case in Florida for 2021

A 2-year-old filly in Jackson County was euthanized due to Eastern equine encephalitis (EEE).

The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services confirmed a case of Eastern equine encephalitis (EEE) in a 2-year-old Quarter Horse filly at a private facility in Jackson County. 

The filly had onset of clinical signs on June 16 that included tremors and inability to stand. She was confirmed with EEE on June 23. The filly was euthanized.

This is the seventh confirmed case of EEE in Florida this year.
