Sixth Florida EEE Case Results in Pony Death

The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services confirmed a case of Eastern equine encephalitis (EEE) in Lake County. The 18-year-old pony gelding had onset of clinical signs on June 3 that included depression, inability to stand and incoordination. he was confirmed with EEE on June 21. The pony was euthanized.

This is the sixth confirmed case of EEE in Florida this year.
