The Washington State Department of Agriculture reported that a 10-year-old Percheron mare had been diagnosed with strangles in Stevens County, Washington. The mare was euthanized.

The mare’s onset of clinical signs of upper respiratory distress was on January 9, and she was confirmed on January 24.
