Strangles in Washington State Pony

The Washington State Department of Agriculture reported to the Equine Disease Communication Center one confirmed case of equine strangles in Chelan County.

The 8-year-old Welsh gelding was confirmed with strangles on May 3 after onset of clinical signs on May 2. Those signs included nasal discharge. The pony is recovering.

The gelding was reported to be undervaccinated.
