WNV in Mississippi Mare

A mare in Scott County, Mississippi, was confirmed with West Nile virus (WNV) in July 2020.

The Mississippi Board of Animal Health has confirmed one case of West Nile virus (WNV) in a Scott County horse. The 7-year-old Quarter Horse mare had onset of neurologic signs on July 17 and was confirmed on July 21. The vaccinated mare is recovering.

This is the first reported case of West Nile virus in Mississippi for 2020.
