Wyoming Equine Herpesvirus Update

On April 10, during daily surveillance and monitoring of temperatures, a 20-year-old vaccinated gelding on the premises quarantined for equine herpesvirus in Johnson County, Wyoming, spiked a fever of 102.5 for a duration of less than 12 hours. Nasal swabs and blood were submitted on April 11, with positive PCR results on blood only for wild type EHV-1. The horse had no other clinical signs of disease. The horse was isolated and the quarantine on the facility extended.

There are 20 other exposed horses on the premises.
