Colorado Neurologic Herpesvirus Confirmed

The Colorado State Veterinarian’s Office reported on April 18, 2018, confirmed equine herpesvirus myeloencephalopathy (EHM) in a horse exhibiting neurological clinical signs in Weld County. The Colorado Department of Agriculture has placed the facility under quarantine, and facility management voluntarily suspended all activities at the premises. 

The horse is undergoing treatment and is recovering. 

Other horses that might have come into contact with the affected horse are being monitored and are currently not showing clinical signs of the disease.
