Additional WNV Horse in Michigan

The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has confirmed West Nile virus (WNV) in an additional horse in Wexford County.

The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has confirmed West Nile virus (WNV) in an additional horse in Wexford County. The 8-year-old Standardbred gelding is alive, and it’s vaccination status is unknown.

This brings the total number of Michigan horses reported as having WNV in 2017 to nine, one each in Clinton, Livingston, Jackson, Mecosta, Midland, Missaukee, and Ottawa counties and two horses in Wexford county. No quarantines were issued.
