Equine Influenza in Washington

A yearling colt in Whatcom County, Washington, was confirmed positive for equine influenza and is recovering.

The Washington State Department of Agriculture has confirmed a case of equine influenza on a premises in Whatcom County, Washington. The yearling colt had onset of clinical signs on December 24, 2019, and was confirmed on December 27.

The unvaccinated yearling had clinical signs that included coughing and nasal discharge. The colt is recovering.

Ten other horses on the property were exposed.
