The California Department of Food and Agriculture confirmed a case of West Nile virus (WNV) in Fresno County.
A4-year-old Quarter Horse mare on a private facility had onset of clinical signs on June 18 that included being afebrile, ataxia, lethargy and proprioceptive deficits in her hind end. She was confirmed with WNV on June 28.
The unvaccinated mare was affected and alive at the time of this report.
