In Episode 68 of the Disease Du Jour podcast, we visit with AAEP Director of Industry Relations Keith Kleine as we look at all the education and entertainment options available at the 2021 AAEP Convention live in Nashville, Tennessee, December 4-8.

Health precautions will be stringent to protect all those who attend the 67th AAEP Convention, but early registrations show that the pandemic is not keeping many folks away from Nashville. For those who don’t choose to attend the live event, there will be a virtual option to ensure you can get your CE and enjoy the industry’s top equine veterinary presentations on-demand.

EquiManagement’s Disease Du Jour podcast is focused on equine research and current best practices. Disease Du Jour is brought to you in 2021 by Merck Animal Health.

For those attending the live event, Committee and Council meetings will be held on Saturday, December 5. There also will be Round Tables offered that day as well as a full afternoon session on the Veterinarian’s Role in Emergency Management, moderated by Dr. John Madigan. The Welcome Reception will be held that evening from 5:30-7 p.m.

Saturday events start at 6:30 a.m. with Partner Sunrise Sessions and breakfast followed by the opening session and Keynote Address by Meagan Johnson on “Zap the Gap: Generational Differences Examined.” That morning also features the ever-popular Kester News Hour with afternoon sessions on business, equine medicine and Table Topics. The ever-popular Trade Show is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. A Trade Show reception from 5-6 is followed by Storytelling Nashville Style fundraiser for The Foundation for the Horse from 8-10:30.

Monday December 6 starts again at 6:30 a.m. with Partner Sunrise Sessions and breakfast followed by a full day of educational sessions. The Frank J. Milne State-of-the-Art Lecture will be presented by Jean-Marie Denoix, DVM, Ph.D., Cert.ISELP, LAIA-ECVDI, DACVSMR, DECVSMR, a founder of ISELP. His presentation is titled, “A Look at Lameness Through the Eyes of Functional Anatomy (and Biomechanics).”

A full day of equine health and business meetings, plus Table Topics, is available. The Trade Show is open Monday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Alumni receptions start immediately afterward.

Tuesday December 7 again features a full day of presentations and Round Tables. The final day of the Trade Show runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
