10th 2019 Strangles Case in Michigan

A positive case of strangles in Montmorency County, Michigan, became the 10 confirmed case of the disease in that state this year. Other 2019 cases were confirmed in Kent (1), Macomb (1), Newaygo (1), Marquette (2), Clare (3) and Saginaw (1).

The 2-year-old Standardbred mare had onset of clinical signs on March 22, which included an abscess. She was confirmed with strangles on April 3 and is recovering. The mare was unvaccinated.
