The first confirmed case of Potomac horse fever (PHF) diagnosed in Kentucky during calendar year 2018 was reported on June 1, 2018. To date, Kentucky has confirmed 22 cases of Potomac horse fever in Kentucky horses. 

In addition to the Kentucky horses, Kentucky’s laboratories have tested and reported results on samples submitted from horses residing outside the Commonwealth. Those cases are not included in our summary.
