AVMA PLIT Announces Promotion of Trust Veterinarian

Linda Ellis, DVM, is the new Director of Trust Veterinarians of the American Veterinary Medical Association Professional Liability Insurance Trust (PLIT).

The AVMA PLIT is proud to formally announce the promotion of Linda Ellis, DVM, to the Director of Trust Veterinarians of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) Professional Liability Insurance Trust (PLIT). The new position continues the PLIT’s initiative to add structure and logistics support for the team, increasing their ability to protect AVMA members and veterinarians across the country.

“Dr Ellis’ new position, undoubtedly strengthens our team,” PLIT Chief Executive Officer, Andrew R. Clark, DVM, MBA said. “I have worked with Dr. Ellis in various roles for 15 years, and I respect and appreciate the extra responsibility she is undertaking. The Trust Veterinarians are critical to the success story of the PLIT insurance programs. They support 65,000 AVMA members in the Professional Liability program, in addition to our business and personal insurance programs, which are growing dramatically.”

Ellis has served as a PLIT Trust Veterinarian since 2005, advocating for AVMA and SAVMA members in many capacities. In addition to her current responsibilities, she will oversee and implement strategic plans for the PLIT, as well as manage PLIT resources and scheduling in the new role.

“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to lead the Trust Veterinarians for the PLIT,” Ellis said. “We work diligently every day to educate and advocate for AVMA members who may be navigating a tough situation. As Director of Trust Veterinarians, my goal is for the PLIT to effectively meet the unique needs of AVMA members and the veterinary profession in 2018 and beyond.”

Ellis graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1991. Prior to joining AVMA PLIT, she practiced small animal medicine in Auburn and Montgomery, Alabama for nearly 14 years.
