California EHV-1 Update Through March 17, 2022

Two additional horses tested positive at the third Orange County, California, EHV-1 quarantine.

Two additional horses were confirmed positive at the third equine herpesvirus type 1 (EHV-1) quarantine that was placed in Orange County, California, according to the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA). 

March 17, 2022: Two additional horses on the premises displaying fever or mild clinical signs only were confirmed positive for EHV-1 on March 17. To date, there have been two confirmed EHM cases (EHV-1 infection with neurological signs) and 24 positive EHV-1 fever-only or mild clinical cases associated with this incident. CDFA is actively monitoring the situation.
