Dr. Lydia Gray of SmartPak Joins NEAEP Board of Directors

SmartPak is pleased to announce that its Staff Veterinarian and Medical Director, Dr. Lydia Gray, has recently been elected to the Northeast Association of Equine Practitioners (NEAEP) Board of Directors. SmartPak is an Educational Partner of NEAEP and sponsors the Annual Symposium, which offers educational presentations, wet labs and a trade show for veterinarians, farriers and veterinary technicians.

As Gray begins her term on the NEAEP Board of Directors, she will become a valued member in the organization by helping to develop new opportunities and maintain the annual activities offered by the association to its members. She also brings experience from having served in a wide variety of leadership roles, ranging from committee member to president, across several veterinary associations, including the American Veterinary Medical Association, the American Association of Equine Practitioners and the Illinois State Veterinary Medical Association.

“I am honored to be invited to join the Board of such a strong organization, and I look forward to serving in my role,” said Gray. “I’m excited for the opportunity to share my association leadership experience and knowledge and to provide insight on initiatives so that the group can continue to advance.”

Founded in 2009, NEAEP is composed primarily of members from 15 states making up the northeastern United States. The mission of the organization is to improve the health and welfare of horses by providing state-of-the-art professional education and supporting the economic security of the equine industry by complementing established local associations and giving equine veterinarians, farriers, technicians, veterinary students and horse owners a unified voice at the state and regional levels.

NEAEP membership is open to equine veterinary practitioners, farriers, veterinary technicians and horse owners. The benefits of membership include continuing education opportunities, a forum in which to network with other practitioners, and up-to-date information on legislative issues affecting equine practitioners. The Board of Directors serves as the foundation of the organization.

“We are very excited to have Dr. Gray join our Board of Directors,” said Bryan “Rhicco” Rentas, executive director of NEAEP. “Her experience and wealth of knowledge is sure to bring great insight to add to the combined efforts of all of our Board members. We are looking forward to all that we can accomplish in 2016, and we’re thrilled to continue leading innovative research and discussion amongst the industry.”

Gray joined SmartPak in 2006 as the Staff Veterinarian and Medical Director, and since then she has made countless contributions to the company. In her role, she advises on the SmartSupplement line of formulas, and was responsible for overseeing the research studies on two groundbreaking products, SmartGut Ultra Pellets and SmartFlex IV Ultimate Pellets. She also provides the most up-to-date health and nutrition information to horse owners through articles in more than a dozen general and trade publications, and through presentations around the country. Finally, she is the voice of the informative “Ask the Vet” blog and video series, where customers have the opportunity to discuss topics related to horse health and have their questions answered.
