New E-book Available from the TAMU Veterinary Science Certificate Program

The Texas A&M Veterinary Science Certificate Program (VSCP) e-book, One Health Science and Technology: Supplement to Veterinary Science Preparatory Training for the Veterinary Assistant Teacher, is now available for purchase. The book is the second publication the VSCP offers in electronic form for easy download for iPad, Kindle and Nook readers.

The 164-page book by Heather Simmons, DVM, theme leader for education and outreach systems, gives students and teachers comprehensive introduction into the field of One Health. The One Health discipline integrates human, animal and environmental health. The lessons, study questions and activities in the book are geared toward a veterinary assistant pursuing a career in the One Health field.

The VSCP program was developed 19 years ago by Floron “Buddy” Faries, DVM, and today he and Dr. Simmons oversee the program’s administration. More than 11,000 students in 31 states, as well as Bahrain, Jamaica and Sierra Leon, are involved in the VSCP.
