The Equine Disease Communication Center shared information from the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) on February 7 that there has been a positive case of equine infectious anemia confirmed this week at Gulfstream Park in Broward County, Florida.

A quarantine has been placed on the infected animal and its on-premises contacts. The quarantine will remain until all disease response activities have been completed, including follow-up testing.

Trace-out activities might require FDACS to undertake actions at additional premises as outlined in the current program policy.

Additional information will be released as it becomes available.

An informational paper on EIA is available on the AAEP website.
