EIA Confirmed in Two Texas Horses

The Texas Animal Health Commission (TAHC) reported that a Quarter Horse without a specific age or gender was confirmed positive for equine infectious anemia (EIA) on June 3 in Webb County.

The TACH also reported that a Quarter Horse without a specific age or gender was confirmed with EIA on May 9. The horse resided in Kaufman County.

Both premises will remain under quarantine until requirements for release have been met. TAHC staff is working closely with owners and veterinarians to monitor potentially exposed horses and implement biosecurity measures.
