The Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food confirmed a case of equine herpesvirus abortion in the Regional Municipality of York, Ontario, Canada. The 23-year-old mare had onset of clinical signs on April 3 and was confirmed on April 7. 

The mare aborted at 315 days of gestation. The affected mare has been isolated on the property. No other mares are affected at this time. Under veterinary supervision, the facility manager has implemented biosecurity protocols and animal movement restrictions.
