Equine Neurologic Herpesvirus Confirmed in Iowa

One horse confirmed with EHM has been euthanized in Polk County, Iowa.

On March 26, the Iowa State Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship reported on confirmed case of equine herpesvirus myeloencephalopathy (EHM) in Polk County. An official quarantine was put in place. 

The 17-year-old Quarter Horse gelding had onset of clinical signs on March 20 that included lameness and neurologic signs. The horse was euthanized.
