An aged Standardbred mare was confirmed positive for strangles in Eaton County, Michigan.The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development reported a confirmed case of strangles in Eaton County.
The 22-year-old mare had onset of clinical signs on March 2 that included fever, nasal discharge and not eating. She is recovering.
An estimated five other horses were exposed to the mare.
