An aged Standardbred mare was confirmed positive for strangles in Eaton County, Michigan.
An aged Standardbred mare was confirmed positive for strangles in Eaton County, Michigan.

The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development reported a confirmed case of strangles in Eaton County. 

The 22-year-old mare had onset of clinical signs on March 2 that included fever, nasal discharge and not eating. She is recovering.

An estimated five other horses were exposed to the mare.
