The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services reported cases of equine strangles in Marion and Okaloosa Counties in May 2021.

In Marion County, a horse at a boarding facility was confirmed with equine strangles. There were 48 horses exposed at that facility.

In Okalkoosa County, a horse at a boarding facility tested positive for equine strangles. There were nine horses exposed.

These were the 25th and 26th confirmed cases of equine strangles in Florida this year.
