Hagyard Equine Medical Institute, one of the world’s premier veterinary institutions, has once again been named the official veterinary partner for the Horse Shows in the Sun (HITS) series in Thermal California, which runs from January 13-March 15, 2015.
A Hagyard Sport Horse team headed by board certified surgeon and performance horse specialist Dr. Liz Barrett, DVM, MS, DACVS, will be available for both routine and emergency veterinary care from January 10-March 16.
Specializing in lameness evaluation and treatment, Barrett can also perform pre-purchase examinations, ultrasounds, shockwave therapy, digital radiographs, mesotherapy, Canadian and domestic health certificates as well as providing routine medical care and vaccinations.
Originally from Prince Edward Island, Canada and a graduate of the Atlantic Veterinary College, Barrett completed a surgical internship at Hagyard and later completed her Masters of Science degree during her surgical residency at Auburn University. Barrett holds certification through the American College of Veterinary Surgeons and is a permitted FEI-treating veterinarian.

Barrett and her team will be based out of Hagyard’s exclusive clinic facility on the show grounds at Thermal. The facility can accommodate 24 hour hospitalization and observation and is capable of fulfilling pharmaceutical dispensary needs through Barrett and her team.
